About US
Bahati Collective was established to create high quality, sustainable contemporary furniture that is an alternative to mass-manufactured products. We are majority female owned and focused on the hospitality and residential markets. We are mindful of reducing our environmental impact as much as possible, partnering with like minded ethical factories and prioritizing the use of sustainable materials and support economic empowerment in the regions where we manufacture.

Small & beautiful
Our clients were asking for something other than mass market, cookie cutter furniture. Having supplied furniture and lighting to the South African market for over a decade, we decided to bring our products to the US. So many people said to us "we see a furnished space and think, “everything looks the same.”
That's why we decided work with factories that can accommodate a high level of customisation, and keep our furniture exclusive, manufactured on demand and high quality. Our furniture is made in South Africa from locally sourced woods and materials as much as possible. As designers, everything is customisable, and we love working on one off briefs. The Designers
Julian transitioned from fashion to furniture and lighting design 20 years ago, applying his eye for detail to the home and decor space.
He opened his first furniture store in Johannesburg in 2005 to critical acclaim, and has worked with clients on both custom furniture development and interior design. He lives in Johannesburg and heads up our design department.
Sarah has worked as a designer in luxury fashion for 15 years. She consulted for top brands such as Roland Mouret, Jenny Packham, Biba, COS and All Saints in London, Sydney and New York before founding her eponymous bridal company in 2010, which she ran for 9 years.
She lives in New York and heads up our US operations.
